The amount of hormones released during a bad situation is exponentially more than the amount released when something good happens. Consequently, the surge of cortisol and adrenaline floods through the body. It creates a need to survive, a need for the brain to imprint with: “This was a bad situation. Let’s figure out 1,452 ways to make sure this either A. never happens again, or B. if it does, we will be better prepared.”
Never mind the fact that we are surrounded—no, bombarded—with negative input hourly. Swimming upstream in the realm of happy happy joy joy can feel like an impossibility.
But It Is Possible: Choosing High-Frequency Living
It’s not impossible. You only need to choose to live in a state of high-frequency living. We must decide that we will not rehearse negative events but rather relive those moments that brought us happiness and joy. In doing so, we force the release of good, life-giving hormones every time we retell a good story. This helps override the cortisol released in times past.
Ready to Hijack Your Negative Bias?
Are you ready to hijack the negative bias in your brain? I am too. Let’s have a conversation, and I’ll show you what I do.
The Importance of Gratitude
Gratitude is a powerful tool. It shifts our focus from what we lack to what we have. When we practice gratitude, we open ourselves up to more positivity. This can lead to a more fulfilling life.
Daily Gratitude Practices
Consider starting a daily gratitude journal. Write down three things you are grateful for each day. This simple act can change your mindset over time. You may find that you start to notice more good things happening around you.
Sharing Gratitude with Others
Don’t keep your gratitude to yourself. Share it with others. Tell your friends and family what you appreciate about them. This not only strengthens your relationships but also reinforces your own positive feelings.
The Ripple Effect of Positivity
When you express gratitude, it creates a ripple effect. Others may feel inspired to do the same. This can lead to a more positive environment, both at home and in your community.
Conclusion: Embrace the Good
In conclusion, embracing the good in our lives is crucial. It helps us combat negativity and fosters a more joyful existence. By practicing gratitude and sharing our positive experiences, we can create a cycle of happiness that benefits us all.
Let’s choose to focus on the blessings, big and small, that come our way.
