The Sacred Art of Becoming Unhurried

Once upon a time, I believed that if it was meant to be, it was up to me. Maybe you’ve felt that way too.
It’s understandable for women—especially since the moment we started burning our bras and demanding our equal rights. We’ve been scraping, striving, and fighting to take our rightful place ever since.
While all of that was necessary, it also planted a seed in our collective psyche: If you want a seat at the table, you’d better earn it.
It was as if society whispered,
“Oh, you want to sit at the big boy table? Well, as long as you get all your work done with that beautiful seat, then you may sit with us.”
Cinderella Vibes, Anyone?

Sounds a bit Cinderella-ish, doesn’t it?
Get all your work done, then maybe you’ll be allowed to go to the ball. And just like our girl Cinderella, you do manage to get it all done—only to have your dream shredded, interrupted, or snatched away by circumstance, resistance, or even straight-up evil.
Sound familiar?
This Was Never God's Design
Here’s the truth: This was never the way God set up life for His daughters.
In fact, He intentionally carved out one day every week where women (and men) were to lay everything down: Leave the camp. Walk away from responsibility.Chill.Rest.Revive.
No husbands tugging. No children demanding. Just stillness. Restoration. Sacred rhythm.
God designed us to work, yes. But not to hustle under the crushing weight of everyone else’s demands.
You Were Meant to Rule, Not Just Run
Take a look at Proverbs 31:15.
“She rises while it is still night and gives food to her household and assigns tasks to her maidens.”
Did you catch that?
She assigns tasks. She manages. She doesn’t micromanage or martyr herself. She delegates.
As her wealth increases, she invests wisely. She grows entrepreneurial ventures, trusts her staff, and reaps the reward—not just for herself but for her family.
This, dear sister, is how it was “supposed” to be.
Lay It Down
God never meant for you to carry loads so heavy they break you down.
But here’s the thing: you must want to lay the burdens down. You must believe that rest is not only allowed but divinely designed for you.
My Unhurried Journey
Five years ago, I became Unhurried. Not because I was trying to. But because God kept tugging at my heart:
“Step away. Lay it down. Rest, daughter.”
Four years ago, I picked the burdens back up. Because emotion muscle memory is real.
I’d hustle again. Burn out again. Lose my schmidt at my kids again. Then I’d realize: Oh yeah... I haven’t been resting.

A Cycle of Surrender
For a few years, this was my pattern: Pick up the weight. Run super fast. Burn out. Lay it down. Walk slower. Heal. Repeat.
But this past year? I chose to live Unhurried again. And it is glorious.
My body doesn’t ache like it used to.
I’ve reduced my body fat by 4%.
I’m not a miserable cow… 😅
What About You?
