Why “Finish Strong” Leaves So Many Women Exhausted

And what your body is actually asking for as the year comes to a close

The phrase, “Finish strong,” while appealing to me, has also left a bad taste in my mouth at times. It’s like a bitter pill you swallow after a season of working tirelessly for something that hasn’t quite happened. Not only that, circumstances became such that your focus through necessity and frankly, desire shifted.

When we come to the end of a year, the lingering ‘I need to finish strong’ may be percolating in the back of your mind.

A Calendar Is a Human Invention — Not a Command

For starters, the whole New Year, as we know, was set in place because once upon a time a bored king decided to mess with folks, and well, now we have the Gregorian calendar.

So, to become anxious or overly excited about the calendar flipping to a literal manmade new season is unwise.

Winter, Shedding, and the Pull Toward Something New

That being said, collective energy being what it is, wisdom says we’d at minimum acknowledge that our bodies may be craving new while shedding off last season, simply because we are smack in the middle of Winter.

Maybe it’s the extra cheese and sugar talking. Either way, is it ever a bad idea to shift your mind into something new? I thought you’d agree.

The Ritual That Didn’t Work

For a number of years, I have had this ritual of taking a long soak in the tub with 2–3 cups of Epsom salt and 20 drops of Release essential oil blend. Probably in a desperate attempt to grasp something amazing in the coming year, while feverishly removing the old ick from the previous year.

As therapeutic as that sounds, it never worked. Ever.

Turns out a 45-minute soak in Release oil does not, in fact, change my brain and make it magically not remember the dumpster fires that occurred the previous year(s) that I weirdly chose to carry in with me.

Where Real Release Actually Happens

That practice is better done once the mind mess has been properly handled. And by handled, I mean literally erased.

Curious? Awesome.

Join me over the next few days, and I’ll walk you through a stunning mindset shift to meditate on as long as you need so that you begin the “New Year” with an absolute bang. Or slip in quietly. Whatever suits your fancy.
