The Glitch That Wasn't a Glitch, Just People Carrying Each Other's Garbage

What do music, G, and G# have to do with your emotional health? Everything, my dear. Read on...
I’ve been studying people for roughly 33 years, give or take.
When you become a hairdresser, one of the first things they tell you is to listen more than you talk. And let me tell you: it is wild how much you can learn about someone’s hair simply by listening to them talk.
Why they want that style. Why a certain length is non-negotiable. Why changing their part feels like a personal attack. You would be surprised what a part says about a person.
But when you spend decades listening, you start noticing far more than hair patterns. You notice the way people speak, what gets under their skin, what they care about, the phrases they repeat, and even the trends that catch their attention.
It is all far more predictable than we think.
I can sit with 30 different people and, by the end of it, hear the same concerns, the same likes and dislikes, the same ways of thinking, just dressed up in different lives.
Recently, I had the opportunity to do exactly that.
And one pattern kept showing up.
Without giving away anyone’s private story, the women I sit with often carry a remarkably similar emotional load. Different lives. Different histories. Different reasons they come to see me.

Yet the same cluster of emotions keeps surfacing.
Frankly, pattern recognition is a little easier now because I use the AO Inner Voice scan as one part of my emotional-wellness work. It gives us a present-moment snapshot of patterns that may be asking for attention. It is not a diagnosis, nor does it tell us why someone feels what they feel, but it can help us stop guessing and begin asking better questions.
And lately?
Two notes keep appearing again and again: G and G#.
At first, I honestly thought it was a glitch.
How could women with vastly different lives and stories have the same notes showing up so out of balance?
Turns out, it was not a glitch.
It was a pattern.
G: “Am I Safe?”
When G shows up prominently, it often reflects an internal conversation around safety.
It can be connected to fear, overwhelm, heavy responsibility, impatience, and that feeling of carrying too much for too long.
And safety and security? They are two things women need desperately right now.
Not more information. Not another reel telling them to regulate their nervous system in 30 seconds. Not one more thing to add to the list they are already failing to finish.
They need to feel safe enough to stop bracing.
Safe enough to rest.
Safe enough to let someone else be disappointed without immediately trying to fix it.
Safe enough to believe they do not have to earn peace by over-functioning for everyone around them.
G#: “Is It Safe for Me to Say What I Actually Think and Feel?”
Then there is G#.
G# often points to the relational side of the conversation: self-expression.
It can show up when someone is suppressing emotion, anticipating rejection, avoiding confrontation, overexplaining, people-pleasing, or trying to manage everyone else’s emotional reaction.
You know the woman.
She knows exactly what everyone else needs.
She can explain why they did what they did.
She can understand their childhood, their pressure, their stress, their wounds, their intentions, and their mama’s problems.
But ask her what she needs?
Suddenly, there is static...
Because somewhere along the way, she learned that being easy to be around was safer than being honest.
Put Them Together
When G and G# show up together, the emotional conversation can sound something like this:
“Something does not feel safe…so I am not sure it is safe to be fully myself.”
It is all about safety, baby.
That is how people end up keeping the peace at their own expense.
Replaying conversations afterward.
Staying quiet when something hurts.
Saying yes when they mean no.
Carrying frustration until it turns into anxiety, exhaustion, resentment, or that strange feeling of being “off” that no amount of sleep seems to fix.
And before you decide, “Well, I must be afraid and emotionally shut down,” hang on a hot second.
These notes can also show up when you are finally confronting old patterns. When you are learning to have boundaries. When you are speaking up. When you are tolerating disagreement. When you are releasing the exhausting need for everybody to approve of you.
The goal is not to never feel fear.
The goal is not to never have a hard conversation.
The goal is to develop so much confidence that you can say what is true, clearly and concisely, without bracing for impact.
That, my friend, is radical emotional freedom.
Sometimes You Are Carrying More Than Your Own Stuff
Collectively, we are absorbing one another’s fear, frustration, anxiety, and unspoken emotional weight—and then wondering why we feel so off.
You may be more irritated than usual.
Tired in a way sleep is not fixing.
Anxious about things that do not even make sense.
Carrying pressure, sadness, frustration, or heaviness without being able to point to one clear reason why.
Sometimes, you are not only dealing with your own emotional world.
Sometimes you have been carrying the atmosphere of your home, your work, your relationships, your social-media feed, or the people who unload on you because you are the safe one.
And once you begin noticing what you are carrying, you can finally ask a much better question:
“Is this actually mine?”
Y’all know I love a good question.
STOP GUESSING
About What Is Going On Inside You
An Inner Voice Scan can help us identify the emotional patterns currently asking for your attention, so you can name what is there and begin releasing what has been trapped inside—even the things you have not had words for yet.
You do not have to keep calling it “fine.”
You do not have to wait until the exhaustion becomes resentment, the resentment becomes distance, and the distance becomes a life that no longer feels like your own.
There is currently a waitlist for Back Pocket Coaching, but an Inner Voice Scan is a powerful place to begin.
If you have felt off but cannot explain why, listen to what your inner voice may be trying to tell you.
Book your Inner Voice Scan and let’s find the pattern beneath the pressure.
