Egyptian Gold: A Sacred Blend for Emotional Healing and Inner Peace

It’s been a minute since I wrote much about essential oils, save for the occasional burst of inspiration from my own findings in using them — the kind that was just too good to keep gatekept. Apparently, I thought I had written as much as I could on these gifts. The audacity and arrogance I seemed to have, thinking I could exhaust creation and the various healing benefits of plants, is ridiculous.

So when someone asked if I had any info on a particular oil, I realized I did not have much written on the one in question. That led me to another oil suggestion for her, which led me to realize that one too, I hadn’t written about very often. This set me to thinking — perhaps I hadn’t exhausted God’s healing tools of essential oils. Gee, ya think?

In any case, I decided to start researching with fresh eyes, especially since I find myself in a totally new life since I first began researching and writing about essential oils some 13 years ago.

A Fresh Look at Egyptian Gold

Today’s writing is on Egyptian Gold. I know, it’s not a typical oil we discuss, but again, I haven’t written on it — so you get the benefit of something new for me.

Enjoy.

As is often the case when something as incredible as essential oils goes mainstream, we as a culture tend to forget the original intended use. We forget the sacredness of what we once held with awe, and we forget the power of such simple tools — leaves, bark, and roots of plants.

Life becomes thick and heavy with the weight of what the world throws our way, and so we, in total reaction mode, throw back at it the newest, latest, and greatest thing that promises peace, clarity, joy, and that much-needed hope. Unfortunately, as with most fads and trends (Atkins, anyone?), they tend to fall short — and creation wins. Again.

The Experience

If you have Egyptian Gold in your hands, run and grab it while you read along and see if your experience fits the one I share here. If you don’t own this one, then expand your mind as you read and imagine yourself feeling all that is written below. The power of your imagination is pretty great, you know.

So when you uncap the bottle of Egyptian Gold, breathe deeply, and let the aroma of the oils rise like a prayer. This is, after all, aromaTHERAPY. Allow the therapy to begin.

Typically, what you will experience is all the stress, all the anxiety, all the guilt, and the “not enoughs” take a stunning back seat.

The soft Frankincense fills your lungs first, allowing the noise and nonsense within to soften. Those anxious thoughts are now hushed, and the fog of fatigue begins to lift. Clarity and peace begin to waft in — and this, dear friend, is only the Frankincense at work. We have several more oils to go.

Another deep breath reveals Hyssop, which immediately rushes to your chest, where grief, guilt, shame, and fear once held space. Now, the cleansing effects of Hyssop wipe it all away, and only forgiveness and freedom remain.

Cinnamon, if not experienced at the first breath, comes in on the heels of Frankincense and Hyssop, bringing with it warmth and abundance. You will quickly be reminded that provision is your inheritance — a birthright — and not something to beg for or demand. It just is.

Myrrh, barely noticeable to the average nasal passage, secretly swoops in, and your mind instantly stops whittling — if it hasn’t already hopped on board that slow train. Myrrh wraps around your heart like a friend who knows grief but carries hope everywhere she goes, assisting in peeling the grip of grief from your heart. This gentle oil wraps a comfort and joy around you that is fairly unexplainable.

The softness of Lavender drifts in and out throughout your time with Egyptian Gold. Lavender, after all, is totally unassuming and sweetly removes fears of abandonment and “what ifs.” Where rejection has left cracks, compassion slips in; worthiness reigns.

If you’re new to essential oils, this one may not have been quite as noticeable as to those who know it well — Cedarwood. This brain-changing oil is anything but gentle. It moves in and practically rearranges the misplaced furniture in your mind and soul like an aunt on holiday come to set things right in your life. At first, you might be irritated that she’s there and has taken authority. But when it’s all said and done, you must admit — the place does look better. There’s just a lightness.

Of course, a grounding oil wouldn’t be complete without the sturdy conifers. In this case, we have Balsam Fir, which opens up the lungs like a breath of mountain air. Taking a second — or a generous third — inhale of the oil blend and you’ll find that Balsam Fir renews your once-weary mind, and your soul can actually get some much-needed rest.

Finally, Northern Lights Black Spruce and a timeless classic, Vetiver, finish the aromatherapy of the mind, body, and spirit. These beauties waste no time in restoring balance, grounding, strength, and a deeply rooted feeling that only comes from true freedom in the soul.

From Inhale to Anointing

And so, what began as a desperate inhale to quiet the noise, Egyptian Gold turns into an anointing of peace. You are reminded that in ancient days, when these gifts were considered rare and you could not, in fact, find them at the local Zippy Mart, anointing was not a suggestion but a sacred daily practice. Now you can see why.

Imagine with me for one moment that any fear, striving, and scarcity you may feel can be turned into strength, stability, and total peace — all within a matter of minutes.

I believe in our day, it is important that we begin to look — and look again — at these tools given to us by God for the purpose with which they were created: healing, inside and out. We mustn’t shy away from declaring their positive benefits just because a three-letter agency said, “No, no, naughty naughty.”

Understand that each oil in this blend, in its own right, is remarkable. But in the hands of a master craftsman, it becomes a conduit of great change.

If you do not have this particular oil in your hands, take a look at the single oils below. See what you’ve got in your stash, then pair it with the emotional benefits that suit your need. Start there, start small, and let the freedom grow with each breath.
