ONCE SACRED, now profane...

There are many things in life that once were sacred and now have turned profane. This idea may not be much of a surprise to any of you given that you are reading this blog. You are obviously savvy in the ways of emotional wellness. Chances are, you've experienced the once sacred and now profane.
Having an awareness of the fact, knowing what to do about it, and then, actually walking that out are all quite different.

EXAMPLES-
Walking is one of my most favorite things to do. I will walk miles and miles without becoming weary because I simply enjoy being outside. There are times when I stumble on a construction area, a mucked up sidewalk, or a garbage truck barreling through the neighborhood in the middle of my walks. The noise can be deafening, the sidewalk treacherous and it becomes difficult to pray or listen to the Voice I had been walking with. My attention is elsewhere for a moment.
Consequently, my sacred prayer walks feel profane. As if someone rudely interrupted a precious time I wanted to carve out.
My little baby boy, skin once tender and soft grew into an older child with a massive scar on his neck from a ravaging disease we call cancer. A baby's or child's skin is truly sacred, untouched by the world. To have something like cancer ruin a spot on the child is indeed profane.
Essential oils, once thought of as treasured possessions, used in a Holy Temple for worship, praise, and purity, used to anoint the sick in a most precious manner giving way to total healing- now used as commonplace, argued over as to which is the best company or who started the distribution of them-- profane. I got news for everyone- God was the Creator of holistic medicines. It was His idea first.
God sent His word, and He healed them. He spoke and Lavender, Frankincense, and Peppermint were. For those who chose to use essential oils, we have this amazing treasure of His word in a bottle, available now anytime we like, and yet... The sacredness of the oil has become commonplace. A forgotten idea, an afterthought.
So it is with our emotions, the soul.
You see, in scripture, the soul is the mind, will, intentions and emotions. We are spirit beings yet trauma, wounding, and upbringing cause us to live from the soul rather than our spirit.
Spirit living=sacred
Soul living=profane
THERE'S A WAY BACK
The soul is meant to be an interface for the spirit and body- a way to sense the spirit world around us, and a way for the body to express what is happening (physical conditions, etc). When the soul/emotions are in a negative place (profaned) it is a veil to truth and distorts what are spirits know to be truth. The soul then overrides the spirit of a person and takes charge.
The way back begins with thoughtful consideration of this truth.
If you are encouraged to take back your spirit and politely invite your soul to take a seat, I'm offering a few suggestions.
Beginning with a time of journaling.
Think through and then jot down a few things in your world that were once sacred to you but now have become profane. Is it a relationship? Perhaps a well loved pastime like taking a quiet walk, dancing, writing, or sitting quietly with just you and you.
There is more I will share, but this will grease the wheels and get you comfortable with the idea that things as they are could be vastly better. Dare I say, things could lean tremendously more toward the sacred again.
