Love Is

I’ve been studying love a bit lately, and it’s a fascinating discussion.

It’s the single thing that will reach this next generation.

But here’s the kicker- it’s not love like we hear about in our culture. Shoot, that kind of love can be so wheels off and frankly, it causes us to be yard sales with our emotions.

Totally scattered all over the place.

One thing I I have found so stunning is that love covers, it's a shelter of sorts.

You don’t see this in 1 Corinthians 13 as it is translated to English, (yet another reason to study the texts in Greek & Hebrew) but rather it says “love bears all things”.

It is a weird translation that makes zero sense.

Most think it’s that it bears every hardship but the word in Greek is actually a word that is ‘to roof over’. Other options of translations are to cover, thatch, deck, to protect, to keep, or hide.

That hits different than “bears all things” doesn’t it?

It gives the idea that true love is a shelter or a safe haven.

The word haven is so significant to me and what I’m doing here in the world. Shoot, so much so, one of my kids’ middle name is Haven as a prophetic sign over him.

Consider this as you look at the Gen Z & Alphas- rather than bristling when they give tone, consider becoming a safe haven over them, praying over them as you encounter sass.

Consider carefully choosing life giving words that speak truth to their spirits. Most of all, refrain from matching their energy, this will never do.

Love. Cover. Shelter.

This is what calls back a generation who’s wandered off.
